Just thinking.
Schadenfreude means taking pleasure in the misfortune of others. Whether we are willing to admit it or not, we have been at war since WWII. This is because we are after resources, human and precious: Check your gas tank, computer, and now your pay check (if you get one). We have been the aggressors as only good (global) capitalist can be. Now, the corporations are moving overseas and ignoring the USA, for cheaper labor and resources. What the SDS and even the Weather Underground were, were canaries in the coal mine. They were guilt-ridden, upper-class, elite college and university students who were warning us of what would come if we did nothing. We did nothing. We were busy smiling through the smaller problems that have now become huge. Back to my point. Every dominant culture can’t remain so. We are heading down which means we are going to catch ours. Those we thought were our friends were so for dark reasons we forced on them, and so they will suffer schadenfreude and watch from the sidelines. My point: It is time that we learn to be grownups and not the helpless children that our leaders taught us to be via the manipulation of positive psychology’s tools. See their influence on torture techniques to get my point: http://www.nybooks.com/articles/2016/02/25/the-psychologists-take-power/. Just thinking.

Just thinking. Notice how the creation of community colleges seemed to be one of the old “teacher colleges” where faculty spent less time with research and most of their time teaching and concerning themselves with pedagogy. However, the five courses that were mandated seemed excessive to faculty who taught four at teachers colleges and unthinkable to faculty at research universities where two courses or fewer was the norm. However, at the time it seemed innocent enough. One can see how one set of faculty were going to be seen as less than while the other was going to be “worth” more. One set was working with science and scientism projects. (Scientism – Spivak: techno-capitalism) The other set was going to teach the underclass. Now, at community colleges faculty members teaching in liberal arts or fine arts programs are going to be all adjuncts often via online less-than or ready-made courses. Teaching the underclass doesn’t require that the students know more than the vocational training (that they once got on-the-job) that they need for jobs: A convenient (and old fashion) way to limit solidarity for all faculty and students through ignorance at the student’s and state’s expense. Have an adjunct patching together a living too busy to mentor or advise, teach and "get lost." Just thinking. |
